Bri Reddick is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Feminist Studies and an inaugural Racial Justice Fellow at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her award-winning M.A. thesis, Black Blood: Black Menstruation, Disembodiment, and Erotic Autonomy, examined the history of Black menstruation through enslavement and its afterlives. Her dissertation project, The Florida Doula, extends this work through a Black ecofeminist analysis of reproductive and environmental crises. Drawing on ethnographic research and oral history, Reddick uses the figure of the doula to theorize alternative modes of relation and survival that move beyond hypervigilance and toward collective healing for Black women and the natural world. Bri is also a trauma-informed yoga instructor who teaches yoga to survivors of sexual misconduct.
